Qigong for Healthy Aging

Taiji and qigong for health What you associate with aging is not as inevitable as we might think. By using the time tested practices of qigong, you can regain lost mobility, improve strength, balance, and co-ordination, and sharpen mental acuity.

For people interested in experiencing these exercises in a short and simple way, we are offering a 2 hour Class on Sunday from 1:30 - 3:30pm. With as little as 15 minutes a day, you can start to impact your body, mind and energy using the time tested methods of qigong and taiji. People of all ages are welcome. It’s never too soon to learn these great techniques.

The Teaching Intensive (Fri-Sun) will assist you, whether you are interested in leading classes targeted to seniors, would like to broaden your offering, or would like to have some great techniques up your sleeve to make adjustments and include props for more senior members of a general class. With over 30% of today’s American population over 50 (AARP), the demand for low impact wellness is greater than ever. This weekend intensive will provide tools for teachers of Yoga, Qigong and Taiji (Tai Chi) to expand and tailor their offerings to include an aging population. It’s never too early to consider healthy aging.

Footsteps on the Path:
A Practitioner's Guide to the History of Yoga

Source to Summit         Did you know that Hatha Yoga and Kung-fu share a common ancestry, that Zen and the Yoga Sutras are related, that Tibetan Buddhism has its roots in Tantra? If you do practice – and especially if you teach – any of these Asian methods, it is crucial that you understand their origins and developments. Otherwise it is impossible to effectively translate these ancient methods into our modern world, to know when to adapt them and when to stick with tradition. This year our Footsteps on the Path series will be held one evening per week at the Mandala Tea House, and as you savor delicious traditional Chinese and Indian teas, you will enter a living context, demonstrating that deliberate personal evolution is the Great Tradition behind all the yogas of Asia. Whatever your level of experience or exposure to Oriental disciplines, when you finish Footsteps on the Path, you will have a deeper understanding of your practice lineages and how they relate, the knowledge to identify the actual practices from the narratives, and an opening to a level of your practice that you did not know existed. Join us Wednesday evenings this fall for an experience that will change the way you practice forever.
Whatever your level of experience, this workshop (drawn from Triloka's 500 hour advanced trainings) is guaranteed to transform your practice and your understanding of it.

Living Qigong Foundation Course   Living Taiji Foundation Course
Triloka's qigong (chi kung) course and Triloka's taiji course both begin on the same foundation: Daoist yoga, and self-healing.  From here you will begin to move and feel energy (qi/prana) as a natural extension of your being, discover the history and culture of energy practices in Asia, and learn how to use and adapt these skills in our world today. This course includes both medical and spiritual qigong to ensure that you are comfortable and fluent with a wide range of qigong practices, both for yourself and with others.  Whether your intention is to lead groups and classes, heal from chronic low energy, or simply enhance your own vitality, Triloka's Qigong Foundation course provides you with the most accessible, comprehensive, and inspiring qigong training available anywhere.        Triloka's taiji (tai chi) course and Triloka's qigong course both begin on the same foundation: Daoist yoga, and self-healing.  Then it's on to taiji! You will learn two Yang style taiji forms - one simple 13 posture form for training and one longer traditional form.  Next come the self-defense movements that are hidden in each form, then secret internal training.  What sets this course apart from other taiji trainings is that in addition to learning the history and lineage of taiji, you will also learn dozens of secret techniques such as energy extension, "nei gong", and "push hands"  that will bring your practice to the next level.  Graduation from Triloka's Taiji Foundation course gives you comfort and confidence in facilitating group practices as well as the ability to continually evolve in the solo form.
